Who can be an Apprentice at Local 716?
The following criteria must be met in order to be able to apply to our apprenticeship program.
- Be 18 Years Old and a Maine Resident
- Attend an Informational Session
- Have a Valid Drivers License
- Have a Minimum of a GED or Highschool Diploma
What does our program cover?
Our five-year apprenticeship program covers various disciplines, and you can become a journeyman welder or pipefitter upon completion. Before joining the program, you'll need to attend one of our monthly information sessions, fill out an application and submit required documents. If accepted, you'll then follow our program until you receive the right qualification for your discipline. This includes:
- Welders - Attain any certification from across the country
- HVAC professionals - Get your Maine Natural Gas license and learn to work on gas lines and refrigeration systems
- Plumbers - Get your journeyman license in Maine and work with a master as you get your required hours
How do I apply to be an Apprentice at Local 716?
Thank you for your interest in Local 716 Apprenticeship. We have four trades that we apprentice at Local 716: Plumbing, HVAC, Pipefitting and Welding. The first step is to attend one of our information sessions. After the information session you will be invited to apply to the Local 716 Apprenticeship opportunity. We hold all applications for 1 year and hold entrance interviews as our program vacancies allow. The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex.
